Hi ~The system a friend is sending me one! of his spares and a hundred strips is a --- FREESTYLE FREEDOM BLOOD GLUCOSE MONITORING SYSTEM LITE --- how does this compare with other systems in the scheme of things? -- he has been using this one for a while a say?s that he gets on well with it but that the strips are very particular what ever that means! The one the shelf in town is an accu and the lady on the counter had never heard of the one Chris is sending me?
will it pay me fopr a couple of days to take a sample at pre set intervals ? pre set times? or what?

I used the freestyle only a few months back, used it for many years, great little meters, does the job......

I’ve got the FreeStyle Lite as well; it’s a good little meter.

He is possibly having problems with getting the meter to read the blood. I initially had problems until I got the technique right. Assuming he is using the lite strips (which are notched), then you have to put the blood spot on sideways into the notched area. It only needs a tiny blood spot.

I only test once per day, but I randomly choose from:
-When I first Get Up / Before Breakfast
- Before Lunch
- 1 hour After Lunch
- Before Dinner
- 1 hour After Dinner
- Before Bed

Hi Andrew, that is the meter I use. As I self fund strips I don't test that often and as Mark says it took me a wile also to get the technique correct. I find the new strips much easier just a tiny spot of blood needed for the notch. Their customer service is excellent (I have had to phone up a couple of times).

But I can't really compare to other monitors as it is the only one I have ever used 🙂, good luck.

Hi Andrew, I used it for years, great meter, small, fast and uses very little blood. You can get software for it too, but probably not something you would need, just test like Mark suggested and keep it all in a diary. Good luck, its great news to hear you have got the chance to do some testing 🙂
