Have been diagnosed prediabetic - HB1ac - 46 . Since then took to the forum and have been measuring BG levels as suggested to see where the spike is. So far
Out of bed - 5.6-6.2
PP ( 1hour/2hours) - all within 7.3
I am using a gluxo nexus Rx meter which sometimes gives different readings especially in morning when in switch between general and before meal measurements

is there any suggestions for the high fasting or overnight BG ? is this impacting the high HB1ac levels?
 
You haven't told us any overnight levels though.

sorry to be unclear , when i meant fasting it was overnight after food - measurements taken in the morning after 8 hrs
example food at 10:00 pm night , measurements taken at around 08:00 am in the morning
is this the correct method to calculate fasting BG?
 
I'd say there are higher numbers involved somewhere that are happening at a time you aren't testing, 5.6-6.2 isn't that high at all and I think an average BG of around 6mmol would equate to a hba1c of around 34mmol whereas a hba1c of 46 indicates an average glucose of 7.5mmol xx

This is where the meter confuses me , which is the best meter to use to check the levels?
Also to measure PP sugar is it 2 hrs post food or 1 hr post food?

there isn't a "best" meter, they are all allowed a slight margin of error so there isn't really any one better than the other, the general idea is 2 hours after eating but it doesn't always follow as different foods will raise BG at different rates I'm afraid xx

understood .i am on a stable diet since i have been diagnosed so may be i am getting lower readings
carbs-61%
fats - 19%
protein - 14%, rest fat , fibre etc
net carbs around - 131 g daily average , sugar around - 29 g daily average
excercise - 10000 steps a day - average 7-8KM

is this ok to maintain or sustain levels or any further advice
 
Have you reduced your carbs?

I don't even eat 131g carbs a day and I have a benefit in that I use insulin, many diabetics find they cant handle that amount of carbs

61% carbs is a fairly large amount, even the NHS eatwell advice - which many find too carb heavy suggests they should make up just a third of your intake.
How long ago was your last HbA1c? If you have made changes since then, then perhaps it has reduced by now?

I used to eat rice two times a day not cut to one also used to eat a lot of bread have now stopped
Reduced alcohol consumption or stopped it in fact only when the occasion calls for now

Hba1c was done recently 2 weeks ago but I was drinking / eating heavily during all the while I have now cut down on everything , is there a alternate to carbs and still feel full ? I am now finding it difficult even with this amount...
 
If you want to find out what your blood glucose is doing overnight, it is necessary to test both immediately before bed and again when you wake up, preferably before you even go to the loo. Then you can see what happened overnight. It is utterly normal ie not diabetic, to have a difference between the two - but it shouldn't differ by a huge amount.

So do those two tests over say a week-ish, then take an average of each of the sets of readings and compare them to see what the difference is, to see if you need to take any action or not. You can't tell from any isolated tests.

If you should get the occasional pair of tests that's markedly different either way, up or down - then start to consider what you did different that day to what you did on the others.

rice can be problematic for many diabetics so most tend to substitute it for a lower carb alternative xx
