Hi there. Recently been put onto insulin (8 units of Humalin 1 twice a day). I've been on it now for just over 2 weeks. BG level just before I took first does was in the 23s and that level dropped to around 7.5 in a week. I'm on antibiotics for a duff toe (under the hospital for this) and am on week 3 of antibiotics of a 6 week cause. I went to foot clinic yesterday and saw the DN at the same time (very impressed there) and mentioned that the BG levels had been going up again. She suggested 10 units in the morning and 9 at night and have been on that since Wednesday night - BG levels are still high, this morning before breakfast they were 10.5 and at lunch 15.4. Before I give her a call is it likely that the underlying toe infection is causing the BG levels to remain high? I know it's all a learning curve and amounts of insulin etc take a while to get right. Thanks in advance.
