After 2.5 years of regular testing and returning 5 5-6.5. I stopped testing. A few days ago decided it was time to see what if anything was happening. While it was not worrying me the numbers returned 6.9 and another at 7.6., still ok but out of my normal range. Don't think testing sticks could be contaminated I was eating the same food at meal times. Busy rushing around not sitting still. In my naivety and may be arrogance I had been increasing the daily carbs, not by much but clearly enough to make the change. Daily treats included mountains of almonds, watermelon everytime i went to the fridge, a few more squares of chocolate. Time 2 ditch daily treatlets and retutn to what works. Lesson learnt D. 1: Sharron 0

Thanks I wasn't overly concerned more interested that a,few extra, carbs can have an effect. My last Hba1c was 36, as was the one previous.

Sounds like just a little drift upwards @Sharron1

And it also sounds like you’ve decided to try to curb your snacking a little, which is probably a good thing.

Personally I find snacking very habit forming, and the more I snack the more continually hungry I feel, and especially at/around any time when I snack with any regularity!

You are so correct. I treat my body and D like a scientific experiment. I was and am amazed that the increase of snacking carbs, probably 15-20 could make a subtle difference. But there you go, it did. Hence the reason for testing, although my GP is against it. However, I was only too aware I had been eating more than usual. Odd, because during lockdown I was ok, now back at work...

I find it far more difficult at work, there is always some temptation in store, whether it's the nurses tucking into cake and chocolate, or sheer boredom and the pack of emergency nuts in my drawer. Luckily I still work from home a lot of the time so there is no temptation there!

Ok, new day... removed all the temptations. Let's see how it goes over the next few, weeks. Again, oddly enough the porridge for breakfast is still ok, came in at 6.8. No wonder there is no one diet fits all.
