Can anyone advise on BG fluctuations?
Diagnosed 2 days ago.
First BG at hospital was 15 (very stressed and major anxiety at the time.
2nd BG morning after in hospital was 12.6 (before eating, no sleep and still quite stressed. (Felt woozy throughout these days)

as from today started new diet. Woke up with level 12. Had boiled eggs, kale and mushroom for first meal plus 2nd ever metformin poll.

2 hours later BG was down to 10, and went for a brisk walk. Did have what I believe is sometimes known as a phantom hypo like a 10 second panic attack like feeling which I’ve read can be from when BG drops and then a nasty toilet experience which I believe is a side effect of medication
immediately had an orange.

1 hour after orange BG was still in the 10 range.
Started feeling normal again after days of woozyness. Was a very welcome feeling.

tested again 2 hours later and BG was down to 7.3, (which was about an hour ago.) feeling good but panicking as a newby that it’s come down too much?? is this just because I’ve avoided carbs all day and did some exercise? Or should it not come down that much. Do I need to eat some carbs to get it back up a bit and try and bring it down slower? Just a bit confused. Any advice would be much appreciated.

that's a perfectly safe level to be at, you don't want to eat carbs and end up higher or you'll never get used to "normal" levels and feel like your having a false hypo at perfectly normal levels
xx

You don't need to push your blood glucose levels up - as a type two on Metformin you are most unlikely to have an actual hypo.
You might have cut back rather sharply and not be able to cope with the altered level of glucose - I found a warm drink and a few grapes got me through the false hypos, it is not as though you need the sort of response a type one requires to stop going down to dangerously low levels.
Many people seem to do well on 50 gm of carbs a day as they bring down their levels and restore normality - it is best to check on BG levels after eating to see how you deal with a meal. I saw my levels reach 8 on the way down, and then gradually reduce to below 7 without changing what I ate, which I took to indicate recovery.
