Being a newbie my bloods are still baffling me...lol

I go to bed reasonably low on average, checked in the night and still ok, then bam wake up at 17 :-(

If i pulled an all-nighter to check whats going on every couple of hours would results be correct if i've not slept?

Hi Gary, basically it could be one of two things.
Either.
Your basal is set too low, so you rise gradually all night, then have a huge rise as your liver dumps glucose into the system ready for the day ahead.
Or
Your basal is set too high, and you drop very low around 3am, which is when the body is at its lowest ebb, the liver overreacts and dumps glucose, and that's why you wake high.
As a starting point, I agree, you need a few measurements from the middle of the night, but I wouldn't try and stay up all night, because, as you say, that would probably skew the results.
Try starting by setting the alarm for 3am, then a couple of nights later, set it for a different point, til you've got a few readings, and this will help you work out (or help your diabetic team work out) what's going on.

Robin's just said exactly what I was going to say. And no - if you stayed awake all night - you wouldn't get anything like the same BG results as you'd get whilst sleeping or briefly interrupting sleep.
