Well I had my latest check up with the doctor yesterday. Hba1c was 7.6 which is slightly up from 7.5 last time. Doc was pleased with reults and I was pretty amazed as I have not been treating my D as well as I could / should. I was told that blood pressure was fine too at 140/90 but I never know what these numbers mean 😱
We discussed my neuropathy and are not changing from the gabapentin but if the pain persists or gets worse the doc has suggested another medecine, but I cannot remember the name. We talked about increasing the gabapentin from 3 a day but I am not keen on doing that as it is making me drowsy.
So no change in meds this time and doc seemed to think that I was managing well, but I think with some additional effort on my part I can bring the numbers down.
All in all a good visit and it was nice to meet my actual GP as this was the first appointment I actually had with him. Oh and I also have an X-Ray booked for Friday as the toe which I broke earlier in the year has not set corectly.

Hi Brendan, always nice to hear when someone has had a positive appointment! 🙂 Good news that you've held steady on the HbA1c but can see where you can improve it, I hope you are now motivated to go ahead 🙂 I'm a little surprised that the GP said 140/90 was OK, usually they like diabetics to be at 130/80 or below. Having said that, perhaps he had factored in 'white coat syndrome' and assumed that your levels were lower when not placed under the stress of having your BP taken! My BP is around 100/70 most days, but yesterday in the surgery it was 150/80! 🙄

Here's to a sub-7% HbA1c next time! 🙂
