hello,

my partner was last week diagnosed with what we beleive is Type 1 diabetes! - any advice, tips on how best to support them would be much appreciated!

Hi Danny, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sorry to hear about your partner's diagnosis - how did it come about? Do you know what insulin regime they are on? Personally, I would highly recommend getting a copy of Type 1 Diabetes in Children Adolescents and Young People by Ragnar Hanas - don't worry about the title, it is suitable whatever your age! It can be very helpful in explaining all the various aspects of living with Type 1, and can also prove very useful for helping to understand the jargon that your partner's healthcare team might be using, as well as prompting possible questions to ask. How are things going with the injections?

There are a lot of friendly, experienced people who will be more than happy to help with any questions or concerns you may have, so please ask away 🙂

Sorry to hear that Danny, my best advice is just to support them emotionally, it's going to be a roller coaster ride until they get under control
