I’m happy to say I’ve been lucky to have been referred for the Libre by the community diabetes nurse and the clinic have accepted it. However, I have the problem that things don’t stick well to my skin and have found the sticky bit around my first Libre sensor came off after less than a week. Put a clear film plaster that a friend uses but that’s started coming off & I don’t change sensor til Friday. What do people find best for helping keep the sensors from coming off as there seems to be a few things on the market? Thanks.

You can get sprays that you put on before attaching the sensor. Cavillon and SkinTac come to mind. I use Cavillon first then put the sensor on and cover it with Opsite, first putting a circle of thin card over the sensor, that way if the Opsite starts to peel I can remove it, without pulling the sensor off with it.

I find they stay stuck but I just put a plaster over if it starts coming loose

Wipe skin with alcohol wipe before applying, ages since last had sensor come off, mind don't use arms now haven't done for some time, current one is on chest.

I rarely need any overtaping, but if sensors start to lift i find hypafix works well for me. It’s a fabric look, so not the most subtle, but generally sits (mostly) under my shirt sleeve

For me, preparation is important.

Make sure you’re arm is dry and not greasy. An alcohol wipe (or something like surgical spirit) is helpful.
Ensure you place the sensors on a flat part of your arm that does not bend. Not on the corner of a muscle.

If you find the sensor still peels off, you can buy an arm band with a 3d printed Libre holder.
I find this better than putting a plaster over it because the arm band can reused and sized.

I now use an arm band full time and love it. Had a couple of losses in the shower and when working outside or catching on clothing (bra straps/sports tops) before that but since using the arm band and holder I have so much more confidence that my Libre sensors are safe and secure and no losses since.
This is the one I got...

I would agree that skin prep ensuring skin is degreased and dry is important and choosing a fairly flat part of your arm for us ladies particularly as smaller arm circumference means that the edges of the sensor are more vulnerable and especially to bra straps. I also find it helps to hold the applicator against your arm for at least a minute after insertion, before wriggling it free and then applying pressure to the sensor and the adhesive skirt around it to ensure a good contact.

I have found a similar arm band on Amazon.co.uk
