Hello
My mother has been informed she is 'pre diabetic' and it's all completely brand new to her, she reads books, doesnt do the internet, can any recommend the best book for her to learn about diabetes and also maybe recipes of this she can eat? Thanks

The diabetes weight loss cook book by Caldesi has a good introduction to diabetes and good recipes even if she does not need to lose weight.
As she is only prediabetic some modest changes to her diet should be all that is needed. Cutting out things like cakes, biscuits and sugary drinks including fruit juice and reducing portions of things like bread, potatoes, rice and pasta which are the big hitters as they are high carbohydrate.

I'd recommend https://www.amazon.co.uk/Life-Without-Diabetes-definitive-understanding/dp/1780724098

By Prof Roy Taylor, of Newcastle Uni, whose Diabetes UK-funded work on Type 2 diabetes reversal & prevention is now part of NHS programs. https://www.diabetes.org.uk/diabetes-the-basics/type-2-reverse

IMO it's particularly good for explaining the metabolic basis behind the most common form of prediabetes and T2D & why build up of visceral fat is the key element for this.

It also has recipes that you might find useful.

There's also a simplified version which I think cuts out a lot of the scientific background & is more of a simple "how to" guide. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Your-Simple-Guide-Reversing-Diabetes/dp/1780724993/
