hi to all the members im new on here iv had type2 diabetes for over 25 years now and im having some complications which is effected my job and only able to work part time, is there any thing I can claim ? all though my wife works full time, I want to carry on working as long as I can but not being full time is bit of a strain many thanks

Welcome to the forum Wayne Johnson. It's probabbly best to consult a welfare rights unit eg at your local council or Citizens Advice, regarding any benefits you might be able to apply for, but I suspect that it's unlikely.

Hi Wayne, if you're thinking of the PIP (Personal Independence Payment) which is replacing the Disability Living Allowance, you may find this self assessment useful to gauge whether you could qualify for any level of payment. Be honest in answering. It's just for your benefit but it will give you some idea of how difficult it is to get now.

Hi Wayne and welcome. Yes, PIP is something you could consider, but as @Copepod mentioned, it's best to speak with your local Citizen Advice Bureau for specific information about benefit options:

Also, you may be eligible for ESA (Employment and Support Allowance). This is for anyone who is unable to work due to ill health or disability and does allow you to work up to 16 hours a week so you may be able to continue subsidizing your income with part-time work?
