Being Sick again

I'm not sure what is happening to me at the moment, but recently I have been waking during the night with horrendous pains in my stomach (not belly ache) just under my ribs.

I've tried walking the pain of and then just lying down and ignoring. Sometimes I'm even sick.

But last night was horrendous, I at first keep rolling around in agony and then was being sick for about half an hour. I nearly fainted as well.

Hubby at this point was panicking, was trying to get me dressed so he could take me to hospital.. Then suddenly the pain stopped.

I'm supposed to be in work today but I just couldn't get up this morning and still feel sick.

I'm wondering if it is just really bad indigestion?
 
Sorry to hear you felt so rough Di. Could be gallstones, if just under the ribs, and the pain can suddenly go when a stones passes. It comes in phases I believe.

Just a thought. I would suggest you get it checked out asap.

Hi Dizzydi - definitely sounds like gall stones to me.

I had the agonising pain - and vomiting and went backwards and forwards over 3 days to NHS direct who couldn't diagnose.

I finally collapsed in the reception of the A&E department and very quickly was diagnosed with gall stones - which actually turned out to be a perforated gall bladder.

Does it feel a bit like indigestion type pain?

Here's a little trick that may help. Get hubby to press on the right hand side of your upper back. I know your pain is in the front but at A&E as soon as they pressed there I hit the roof - and gall stones diagnosed!

You really should get yourself to A&E. The difference with you is the pain relents and with me it didn't - which makes me think gall stones rather than gall bladder.

But please as soon as you get the pain -get to A&E. Even if its nothing I wouldn't worry as at least you will know.

I wouldn't try NHS direct with this one as all they did with me was first gave me gaviscon and then said I had an infection in my sternum. The simple press on the back test and a scan was all that was needed to confirm.

I was operated on immediately but I think for gall stones they will try and treat first before any operation.

Sorry to hear you are feeling rough Di. From what otehrs are saying it sounds like you shoulld get yourself checked out.

Just tried gp's have to call back after 2.00 to see if there are any emergency appointments!

So gonna get checked out - better to besafe

I've looked at gall stones on the web and the symptoms sound ffamiliar

Hi Di - I had the same thing waiting until 2pm for an emergency appointment and then got told there wasn't any. This is how I ended up in A&E. If the pain has subsided for now you should be okay going to the GP - but if that pain comes back - ignore the GP and get straight to A&E.

I hope we aren't frightening you too much. There isn't anything to worry about as long as you get checked out. I had to have the op because my gall bladder perforated - but even that was just keyhole surgery with a few days stay in hospital - nothing more.

Hopefully things get sorted today for you.

Hi Lucy, you've not frightened me, the info given makes sense and I'm now glad I posted because it has made me realise I need to get checked out. I thought it is probably just indigestion lol xxx
