I'm not a great drinker, but am going on holiday tomorrow and was going to have a couple (maybe three) of beers/ales in the evening.

I'll be sticking to the diet during the day.

On metformin (1g) a day and was just wondering if there could be any adverse effects?

I don't take metformin, but from what I have read here in the past a couple of beers should not be a problem 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful holiday! 🙂

Beer / ale contains carbohydrate, so, while you shouldn't drink on an empty stomach, you may want to reduce carbohydrate content of your evening meal. Enjoy your holiday and ale 🙂

Main thing I was told by Dr in similar situation is never, ever drink on an empty stomach.

So a few chips and all will be well - OK maybe that is going to far!

Have a great holiday

I've never had any problem with a pint or two and Metformin

Although, it may make you temporarily more gassy depending on the type of beer you are drinking!

Beer in the evening sends my blood sugars soaring, but at lunch time on a hot day when I am taking lots of exercise I get away with it.
Dry wine in the evening works better for me.

Thanks Guys.

I never drink on an empty stomach.

Beans (with gammon and egg), beer and metformin. I may just take off :D
