went for my second visit to the nurse for my results and last time i was 6.7 this time i am 7.7 dont know how i have cut down and lost a little bit of weight , i have to have another blood test to check my kidneys then if thats ok i will go from 1 metformin to 3 a day . nit quite sure how its gone up x

Sorry to hear that it has risen Stacey :( Do you normally test your levels to see how you are reacting to food, and when you wake in the morning? Such tests can give you an indication of where things might have slipped a bit. Have you perhaps been less active over the past 6-12 weeks because the days are short and the weather not so good? (6-12 weeks is the period that the test covers) How long ago was your last test?

Perhaps you could ask the nurse or your GP if you can talk to a dietician who might be able to identify areas in your diet that you might like to change and substitute more 'diabetes-friendly' items.

Let us know how things goe - I hope that the tests are OK 🙂

Don't worry about your result, mine goes up and down too. Whereabouts in Lincs. are you. I am near Sleaford.

thanks for the replys i am on the waiting list to see the diet clinic but its a 9 week waiting list . i have been told to have a snack at supper as my numbers are quite high in the morning and she thinks as i dont eat from 6.30 at night that could be why, i do test about once week.
i am going to start my training for the 3 peak challenge soon so fingers crossed this will help.

Mmm, interesting. That suggests to me that she thinks you are high in the morning because you are going too low over night and having a somogyi rebound. Possibly you could always slip in a overnight test to see where your BG's are going.

Late night snack (with or more often without carbs) is also sometimes thought to help DP I think

Yes true 🙂

Which begs the question, what time do you normally eat breakfast in the morning Stacy and is it right after waking?

DP = Dawn Phenomenon.

Sorry that not everyone uses the convention of explaining a term before jumping into using abbreviations.

There was a thread last year about Aymes training for Three Peaks Challenge. Hope your challenge complies with environmental / social responsibility guidelines 🙂 http://www.diabetessupport.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=14389

Hi,

You say here that you test once a week.
I think that is the problem because a test once a week is not going to tell you much other than what your blood sugar is at that time of day. I know strips are expensive and if you have to buy your own it is a drain on your finances. You do need to test more so that you can see what is happening.

There is a new cheaper meter and test strips on the market, would you like details?
