Hello my friends. Sorry I haven’t been posting but I have been reading the posts. Life has been rather rubbish lately and unfortunately is likely to get worse but there’s no more I can do myself. I have been trawling the internet for surgeons in the specialist field of mesh removal. I have had a number of investigations recently culminating in my seeing a surgeon privately yesterday in Eastbourne who works in tandem with UCLH. I urgently need a full removal of my mesh, I won’t go into details but it is major surgery and apparently a long painful recovery. I have been told things will be worse afterwards until I recover properly and he can operate again to sort out the original problem, I’m scared stiff. This is not life threatening and I’m thankful it is not something like cancer but it is still pretty huge. On top I again have had a completely immovable arm and apparently need MRIs on both shoulders as it is ‘not normal’, the pain has been excruciating and have been drugged up to the eyeballs and off work again which I hate. Had D podiatry today who is referring me to a podiatric surgeon and says I also need a small procedure on an ingrowing toenail, said no as I can’t even think of that as well at the moment. Had flu jab this afternoon and have a cold. Tomorrow I have my HbA1c.
Having said all that there’s nothing more I as a person can do to help myself so I shall just go with it.
Thank you for letting me get all that off my chest, I only tell bits and pieces to my family as it is so boring going on about medical things and they really worry. My husband and friend know all so it’s good to talk to them.

Thank you Kaylz, it certainly has raised a smile. Poor little soul, looks like he’s got furry slippers on. I miss having a cat, though nobody but me liked my last cat, he was definitely an acquired taste haha

So sorry Sue you are having to deal with all this, it must be a worry and no wonder you are feeling down, any one would. I hope everything works out well and you find a good surgeon, keep in touch and let us know how you are.

Wishing you at the very least good HbA1c result after your test tomorrow.

Loads of luv n Hugs

Really sorry to hear about everything you’ve been facing @SueEK

Really hope you can get speedy and effective treatment and that your recovery is as fast and complete as it can be and that your condition improves following the surgeries.

Lovely to see you posting though. And rest assured many in be forum will be thinking of you and wishing you well as you recover.

Thanks sue, but my problems can be fixed.

Truly saddened you seem in such a poor way.

Sending lots of love and healing hugs xx

Thanks Mike, I shall face it head on and hope it doesn’t take too long for all the necessary further tests, meetings etc to take place. Hopefully HbA1c won’t be too bad as diet has slipped somewhat over the past couple of weeks but haven’t been too bad so fingers crossed, need to keep on top of it so there are no delays in operations.
Always comforting reassurance from yourself as ever - thanks x

Thanks Jodie, I think I’ve found the right surgeon and he has agreed to let me transfer to his nhs waiting list so one big step forward x

So much to deal with Sue, really hope all procedures have a successful outcome, take care and good luck.

Nice to hear from you again Sue although sorry about all your “ troubles”. Sometimes it just seems never ending doesn’t it. I do sympathise with your shoulder pain, I have had numerous MRIs, scans on mine over the last eight years. Just to warn you, your shoulder will no doubt be in agony after the MRI as it lasts such a long time and you can’t move. Take someone with you to drive home or get a taxi, you really won’t be able to drive. But at least they will see what the problem is. I was offered a procedure to untighten mine but as my other shoulder, at the time, had 0% movement and Mr Eggy was going through his multiple heart attack phase, I felt I couldn’t have two arms out of action. I left it for 6 months and decided against it as there had been some improvement after the consultant had given me a steroid injection. I have learned to live with them now as the pain isn’t as bad as it was initially. Hope everything goes well for everything. Take care. X

Thanks so much @eggyg , yes it’s rotten isn’t it, sorry that you know what it’s like. This is the fourth time in a couple of years and it’s so sudden and severe. Can’t do anything at the mo and haven’t had steroid injection this time as my gp who could do it has left. Will probably wait months for scan but know it should improve in the meantime.
Hope you’re still having a lovely time, enjoy xx

Poor you! Hope everything goes well & you're quickly on the mend.

Hello Sue sorry you are having so much grief, thinking of you. {{{HUGS}}}

Sorry to hear you are having a bad time with health, ( or should that be worse? ) makes me realise that the worst part of the NHS is the waiting and the anticipation of the treatment, often I suspect worse than the treatment.
Positive thoughts sent in your direction along with wishes that it all gets sorted out quickly. 🙂

Thank you so much. I feel slightly better emotionally as now I know what is ahead and I have confidence in my surgeon. It is a travesty that so many women and men (hernia repair) are having to cope with the results of mesh erosion and hopefully one day it will all be brought out in the open but for the time being I am grateful that something can be done. Having lost my mum when she was only 54 I am thankful that I am here for my children and grandchildren and will cope with what is ahead. Thanks again for your kind words xx

Really sorry to hear your having a rubbish time at the moment, I had missed your posts I look out for them as they are usually so upbeat and cheerful. I hope your surgery goes well and you don’t have to wait to long. Good luck with the HbA1c tomorrow whatever the results you can handle this and you’ve got us all here to support you
