:DSo today i went for my first retinopathy screening and all went well but when she put those eye drops in omg!!! 😱 jeez they hurt!!! only for a few seconds but then i was told to wait in the waiting room until they kicked in, but then after 20 mins i could not see nothing!!!! it was like being really REALLY drunk without the buzz😛 when i came out i tried to ring my wife for a lift back but could not see the keypad!! so i tried to guess my way around the keypad and ended up ringing 5 differnet pepole who had no idea who i was lol!!!😱i went back into the hospital told a nurse the phone number then i finally got through to my wife!!! yay!!! but i well freaked out because i could not focus on nothing including faces etc when they said you go blurry i did not think i would not be able to see!!! so after 3 hours i got me vission back (phew ) i guess the point im making take someone with you!! next year i will....oh! and while i was sitting there waiting for misses to turn up someone crashed into the hospital bollards!! and im sure it was someone who had there eyes done to!!!

I know your anguish! I had my first appointment a few weeks ago...and like you the sting got me! then i thought it wasnt' too bad, until 20 mins later, when everything started to go a bit blurry! Then trying to use the phone after...well, forget it!! Took about 6 hrs before my sight was normal again.

I only had to wait approx 2 weeks for the results, which was quicker than the 4-6 I was quoted!

at least that should be it for you for the year...and like you say, next time, I will be taking someone with me!

Heehee I remember the first time I had my eyes tested, I had no idea how blurry the drops made your vision! I was in sixth form then, and I decided to go back to school after. I could not see and I walked into the wrong classroom, and my eyes were huge so it probably looked like I was high on drugs or something! Sooo embarrassing... I know how you feel! Glad your eyes are better.

i am so far managing to avoid the dreaded eye drops... had them previously and hated them..... at least you had it done tho all this monitoring with top technology is in my opinion worth it

Hi

I don't react quite so strongly. I have my test with a local opthamologist who runs an opticians.

Anyway last time I bought what I thought was a black paid of shoes (a bargain) next day went to wear them they were black!! Have loads of black already but as a bargain I kept them.:D

I find I can usually see where I'm going, but as you say it's sooooo difficult to catch a bus when you can't see the numbers and you get strange looks! The time before last was the worst because I had a hypo walking from the hospital to the bus stop and didn't realise it until it was down to 2.1 because the drops had made me feel odd anyway 😱

I just chew a couple of jelly babies and I'm sorted, it's not usually a drama, although it is usually unexpected! 🙂

I wasn't too bad unless I tried to look into the distance, but have had an appalling headache ever since.
