Even though my diagnosis was only in June, my surgery always does an annual review around your birthday so I have had mine today and so far so good. I am happy with my weight loss (9KG) and the fact my fasting level was 5.6 as opposed to 8.9 when I was first diagnosed. The only thing the GP was concerned about was my Cholesterol at 5.3 which he classed as high even though the recommended range was 3.8-5.2 but he agreed to see what I could do about it during the next six months so lots of walking and gardening for me.
Although I would prefer not to have diabetes, the diagnosis has jolted me out of my unhealthy and lazy lifestyle and spurred me on to taking care of myself. Long may it last! I am off on holiday tonight but when I get back I will be making an appointment to see a chiropodist and to have my first ever flu vaccination.

Hi Salinda, I recently had my first HbA1c which is 7.2 and my cholesterol 4.8. The nurse said if I wasn't diabetic that would be ok but because I have type 4.8 is high and should ideally be around 4.

I was diagnosed last month so doing plenty of exercise and weight loss.

Have a fantastic holiday; enjoy and chill xx Amanda 🙂

I hope you enjoy your holiday.

Although having diebetes (we have diabetes, it doesn't have us) is not ideal, we are probably healthier fitter and more aware of how things work than someone who doesn't have diabetes.

Hi Salinda pleased it went ok and well done on your weight loss, i also had raised cho and had to go on statins but theres nothing to them and they work like a treat.
I hope you have a good holiday enjoy x

All sounds pretty positive to me.

Personally, I'm sceptical about cholesterol, but that is something you have to decide for yourself.

From what I've found out about my family we all tend to have high(ish) cholesterol levels. On the other hand heart disease doesn't run in the family either so I'm not overly fussed if my levels don't approach the 4 that is recommended. I'm close enough in my opinion!

Andy 🙂

Sounds like a really good appointment Salinda! Hope you have a lovely holiday 🙂

IGlad to hear that you had a good appointment. Personally I prefer to keep the cholesterol under 4 because of the diabetes so quite happily pop the statins
