I'm not a newbie...but have been offline for a long time, due to a family issue. I haven't got anything to report...but I have no one to talk to and just wanted to say hello...and try and get back on track.

I haven't really gained weight in lockdown, but due to the family issue, have not concentrated on myself / my health...but am determined to turn that around....

I have a review in September and want to try and focus, so I can look forward to a review, not dread it. It's a miserable day and I can't face going out...but I feel a desperate need to do something positive...so I've found my way back here....

I really am just here to say hello and try and get my disappointment in myself, off my chest...whilst I am in a positive mood, rather than disappear under a black cloud again and miss the opportunity to reach out...no ones knows my status so I have no one to communicate with on the matter...

Whilst I want to be positive...reading this back...I feel very low...

Hi Helen 🙂 sorry you're having a rubbish time at the moment. Totally understandable but there's lots of people here to chat to and hopefully help you. Wishing you luck.

Hello Helen and welcome back.

So sorry to hear that you have been through a rough time with family but hope that things are now easier and you can focus on you a little bit now. So leased you have come back to the forum because It really does help to communicate with people who understand the challenges and frustrations as well as to share little successes and get advice and support when needed. Also a little accountability can be a good thing, so if we set ourselves a challenge then documenting it here and reporting our progress or plans to achieve it can help with our own motivation as well as perhaps inspiring others. It might be to lose weight or improve BG levels or set ourselves a daily exercise target.... or even just something as simple as posting our morning fasting reading and touching base with others on the forum or getting ideas for different foods/meals to try or sharing recipes.

Anyway, I hope to see you posting regularly again and look forward to you making progress in whatever area of your diabetes management you choose to focus on.

Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate it.. I really am determined to try and get back on course...and hoping engaging on here again will help me...

Hi Helen, I'm sorry you have been having problems, but glad that you have felt this is the place to find some good support and understanding 🙂 Diabetes can get side-lined from time to time, but recognising you need to stay on top of it and wanting to turn things around is a very positive step 🙂 Keep in touch - you don't have to have anything new to say each time, there is no pressure, but getting back in regular contact with the people here will hopefully help you build some momentum towards improving things ahead of that review 🙂 No time for me to do that - I have my review tomorrow! 😱 🙂

Ah, thanks Northerner. Appreciate you replying and being so encouraging. That I do remember, from being on here previously.. 🙂 Good luck with your review, trust it goes well! All the best, H.

Hi Helen, I thought that your post was very positive. A positive step towards people who will support and help you.

I too have a review in September. A focus. All the ducks in line by then. It may be a good goal for you, your review. Setting a short term and a longer term goal can help some to increase their motivation and success.

Thank you Gwynn. In the short term, I'm just going to make my lunch, for tomorrow. I haven't done that in months...! Going to do one day at a time...and next Monday, hopefully, if I might have lost a pound or two, I'm already heading in the right direction...for September. Seems a long way off...but it will be here, before I know it ! I want to pick up, where I left off and be able to go with a lower weight, than when I was there last.... Appreciate your reply 🙂

Hello Helen, it's lovely to see you again.

Lovely to see you back again @HelenHanfe

Sorry to hear you have been having a tough time of things.

Hope you can begin to make small steps towards concentrating on you and your health. Don’t feel disappointed in yourself, or give yourself a hard time - there are bound to be times when diabetes has to take a back seat. But you have the motivation to make some changes between now and September and we will be alongside you every step cheering you on 🙂

Hello. I haven’t been around that long so may be new since you were last here rather than a familiar face but welcome back anyway
