The Patient and Public Involvement Programme and the National Collaborating Centre for women?s and children?s health are looking for applications from young people (aged over 16) with diabetes as well as parents/carers of children with diabetes to be part of the group that will develop a clinical guideline for the care of children and young people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
This is a partial update of 'Type 1 Diabetes' (NICE clinical guideline CG15). The original guideline only covered the diagnosis and management of type 1 diabetes in children. This guideline update is being extended to cover Type 2 diabetes in children and young people.
Members of this group will play a key role in making sure that the views, experiences and interests of both children and young people and their parents/carers inform the development of the guideline and recommendations to the NHS.
All members of the guideline development group have equal status, which reflects the relevance and importance of their different expertise and experience. The group includes health professionals and researchers as well as patient/carer members. All group members need to attend regular meetings and to prepare for them in advance, including reading relevant papers.
