This week marks the start of National Childhood Obesity Week and a new survey has revealed that, for many parents, talking about their child?s size is a taboo subject.

The research was carried out by the Government-funded organisation MEND (which stands for Mind, Exercise, Nutrition? Do it!), which encourages children and their parents to become healthier.

Funded by local primary health care trusts, local authorities and businesses, it provides free 10-week after-school courses for families to learn about nutrition and physical activity.
