Thanks to all you folks who have supported me and encouraged me to push for basal/bolus for my Type 2 D - It has been approved by my doctor.

He asked me why I would like to use that treatment and was satisfied with my answers. He referred me to the endocrinologist in Peterborough who told me that there are LOADS of Type 2s on B/B! That's not what the nurses in Grantham told me! So I was surprised to here that and she seemed satisfied with me so she has written to my GP approving the change.

The only trouble is I don't know what happens next. I don't know if it'll magically appear on my prescriptions or if I am going to be referred to anyone else for guidance... The endocrinologist told me very briefly how to divide up the doses and it seems like I'm left to fend for myself/experiment. The Peterborough place offers a free Dose Adjustment Course lasting one full day over 4 weeks so I am going to enquire about that.

So anyway I just wanted to express my thanks to everyone who has helped me. I still feel absolutely terrible (there are other things going which are still being tested for) so it's taken me a little while to respond but I just wanted to give you an update 🙂
Jim 🙂

Great news Jim! 🙂 Hopefully the logistics will get sorted soon - definitely a good idea to get on the course as soon as you can 🙂 I would expect your GP to refer you to a DSN at least in order to teach you some basics and act as a 'mentor' whilst you work out appropriate doses - if nothing happens, give your GP a poke and find out what the procedure is 🙂 I hope that they are able to get to bottom of your other problems soon as well 🙂

Good luck, and keep us updated when you can 🙂

Hopefully once you get started you will start to feel a bit better. Good luck with it and ask away if you have any questions

That is good news. I can't help with the logistics, as I was in hospital when I was put on basal insulin.
I do know one thing though, very soon after going on insulin you will start to realise just how rough you had been feeling, because you'll be feeling so much better.
