I'm a big fan of The Byrds, who were influenced by The Searchers

Break out the 12-string for some jingly-jangly 🙂

Gotta love the look of a Rickenbacker. Tricky necks though by all accounts - very tight string spacing. Never played one, but I don’t fancy my chances with these fat sausages.

I don't play the guitar but I've always loved how Roger McGuinn gets that jingle-jangle sound. Even Dylan liked it - although he fell out with McGuinn every so often!

It’s such an iconic sound in those records.

I like the later 'country rock' style Byrds too (when McGuinn often doesn't get the chance to get the Rickenbacker out of its case) but their fanbase had disappeared by then, even though what they were doing led very soon to The Eagles.

I loved the Searchers and thought they had given up long ago but it seems I was wrong. 60 odd years playing 'Needles and Pins' and 'Sweets for my Sweet' for an ageing audience must have been hard graft. I wonder where they got the gigs?
