New research has found that bald men could be at greater risk of having serious symptoms if they get coronavirus.

The lead author of the study is so confident in the data that he has told The Daily Telegraph: "We really think that baldness is a perfect predictor of severity."

The second study, which was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, found 79% of the 122 male coronavirus patients in Madrid hospitals were bald.

Scientists have argued androgens - male sex hormones - may contribute to hair loss and increase the ability of the coronavirus to attack cells.

Makes sense since men seem to be more susceptible than women, and MPB suggests greater testosterone levels :(

I was going to suggest in my comments about the data that you could probably relate COVID outcome to baldness simply to illustrate that you have got to be careful when interpreting the data.

Anyway, I like the idea. Adds a little to the good thing side of my scales when trying to assess my own risk level. On the bad thing side, I have 74 years old, male and diabetes. On the good side, I had white, low HbA1c, not obese and not deprived, making things about even. Now, with my full head of hair, I can add not bald to the good side. Things really are getting better.😎

I`ve had it folks see you in the next world. o_O :D

It’s an association, not a “link”. There are more bald men than bald women, and men are more likely to die with coronavirus.

You can find as many associations as you like, they mean nothing. Having a willy makes you more likely to die with coronavirus. And forget face masks, wear a bra.

Just remind me, who was supposed to be the stronger gender???? 😉

In France, the word coronavirus is feminine, so maybe you’re right TW.

I'm waiting for the study reporting that corona risk reduces for those with a perfect bite.

Note: I have a perfect bite. Also finely shaped calves, which no doubt helps also.
