I haven't had a bagel in yonks. Not since Dx in fact and I really, really fancy one, with smoked salmon on it maybe, and some cream cheese (you can't beat the classics eh?). Does anyone have any idea what they might do to the numbers? I'd like to know if any of you have tried one lately and what happened when you did. I'm just getting back into the right range after my little excitement over the last few weeks and don't want to take any unnecessary risks.

I would imagine it's equivalent to eating a slice of bread. Collins carb bible recons the M&S bagel with salmon and cream cheese is 31g carb for a 23g bagel. Loose Bagels seem to be about 80g with 50g carb (so about 2 slices of bread).

You could just eat the hole of course (0g carb)

Tesco sell wholegrain Alison - which would probably be better.

That's what I was afraid of. White bread does awful things to my BGs. Sigh! The hole it is then.

It's not the same but have you tried my microwaved cheese slices that come out crisp like bread (sort of), think cream cheese would be a bit overcheesed but the salmon would be good or my favourite sliced ham.

Put 2 cheese slices on non-stick teflon sheet and microwave for 30-40 secs (I think, experiment) until they bubble up. leave to cool fill and eat.

P.S. Bagels and just bread cooked in a special way so basically flour. You can get other than white flour bagels, might be worth try.
