If it is thought to be PAD (what used to be called hardening of the arteries) the GP will want to test the difference between the pulse in your ankle and that in the groin, of each leg. Not at all invasive or complicated - shoes off and up on the examination couch whilst he/she wields their stethoscope.
If it is that - will most likely want you to start taking a blood thinning drug - could just be a 75g aspirin or eg Clopidogrel. Either can cause heartburn though in which case they'll then prescribe another drug to stop that .....
But by far the most important is to keep walking! (and avoid smoking, drinking too much alcohol, living on deep fat fried everything, dunno what else) (not suggesting for a minute that's you!)
But - why don't you go and find out if it is PAD first off?
PS is the user name anything to do with where you live, perchance? (just being nosey)
