Yesterday was my birthday and to celebrate it I took my two sons, their wives, three grandsons and oh out for a meal. As some of you might know, I am going on my first flight, holiday, on wednesday and I have been getting really stressed about it. When we got to the place for tha meal I felt a bit odd. I checked my bg's, they were a little high but ok. As the evening went on I felt worse and worse. I couldn't touch my meal. After a while I started to cry because I felt so ill. Luckily we were very near home and I got oh to take me home. He went back and all in all they all had a lovely evening. I felt to guilty. We fly on wednesday. I hope all this stress goes once we are on our way. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry to hear that the stress spoiled your enjoyment of your birthday celebrations :( Do try not to worry, you will be fine. Do you have an MP3 player so that you can listen to some soothing music on the journey? You can drift away in your mind and you will be there before you know it 🙂 Try not to put so much pressure on yourself. It is a big step you are taking, but you will be rewarded with a wonderful holiday I am sure 🙂

Sorry you didn't enjoy your birthday.

Anything new can be a tremendous worry and once we get there we wonder what all the fuss is about. The hardest thing I ever did was to go to my brotheres wedding in Manchester on my own as hubby and sone had other comitments. I think they got fed up with me phoning one o fhtem every half an hour on the way up because I wanted a familiar voice. Once I got to my brothers wedding I was fine and comming home was a doddle.

Sending best wishes for a very happy holiday. I've never flown and would no doubt be stressed just like you are. I am sure that, like Caroline says, you will be ok once you get there. Sometimes the thinking about it is the worst bit. Best of luck. Karen.

Thanks for your replies. Well I'm off on the dreaded holiday tomorrow. I really hope I can chill out and enjoy the whole experience. The trouble is I'm a real homebird and I hate being away from sons and grandsons. This may sound silly as I'm only gone a week but we are all really close. Post you all in a week!!!!!!!
