Today has been a generally bad day diabetes wise, so please excuse me whilst I indulge in a rant. I know you guys will understand! I generally try to be positive about my diabetes but it was hard to do that today!
I woke up late for work and was rushing around, my morning bolus for my daily two scrambled eggs really hurt when I was trying to get the needle through my skin, I don't know why it did, just a random blunt needle I think, so that did not help my mood! Work was really busy (im a vet nurse) and I had to assist with several euthanasias and it just makes me feel sad, even when i know it's the right thing to do, it still gets me. Hypo at work after lunch, treated all ok, but mood not improving. When I got home from work this evening had a letter from my retinopathy screening to tell me I do have background retinopathy. This is the first time I've ever had this letter and I panicked and cried before ringing my DSN who has reassured me, that as they don't want to see me back for another 12 months, it's really nothing to worry about, but it still made me very anxious, and I know I'll continue to feel that way for a few days. Another hypo before dinner, and just as I'd decided to go out for a walk this evening to enjoy the evening sun I have another hypo. Stupid hot weather! Cue a mini tantrum from me with a tiny bit of foot stamping because I hate this! And it's not fair.
However, on a positive note I was treating the hypo with jelly babies when the ice cream van came into my road so I am also having an insulin free ice cream cone as part of my hypo treatment! Do you think if I told the ice cream man it was for medical reasons he'd give me a discount next time?! 😛
Ok guys, thanks for listening! I hope you're all having better days than me and enjoying this sunshine! Xxx

Sorry you've had such a bad day hun! ((hugs)) things can only get better and I'm hoping your not feeling too rough after all those hypo's! hope you have a better day tomorrow :D xx

Sorry to hear you've had a bad day. I admire people who do your job as I know that I couldn't. Worth a try telling the ice cream man it was for medical reasons, you never know. X

Really sorry you have had such a horrible day. Hope you are feeling better. Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully it will be less stressful. You have had one thing after another today, so no wonder you are upset. Glad you had the ice cream. My guess is that you really enjoyed it 🙂 Sending you a big hug {}

Sorry to hear you've had a bad day and the D Fairy wreaking havoc with you x
Here's hoping tomorrow is much better x

I think after the day you've had you really do deserve a rant mini-Vicki Plus a free ice cream never mind a discount!
It's just been one thing after another.
Tomorrow has got to be much better from start to finish 🙂

Thank you everyone for being so lovely! I really appreciate the support and lovely words 🙂
I'm sure tomorrow will be a better day!

(((hugs))) We need to ban all bad days.

Thanks Ditto 🙂
I agree. Bad days should definitely be banned! But then again, I suppose they make us appreciate the good days 🙂

Ice cream men should defo knock the VAT off when it's to treat a hypo. Once we all know who our MP is, I suggest we write to them to ask them to get the law changed!! I'm sure that will work cos I've just seen a pig nesting in one of our trees........

To put the eyes in perspective I was first told I had background retinopathy in one eye in 1995.

Since then the only change has been it's now in both eyes !

A rant was definitely called for after a day like that.
I hope that today has been better.
