Sorry to hear you are struggling
@spiritfree
Sometimes you need to take a breath, and resist the urge to correct high readings until 4 hours after the last dose.
And treat the hypos, but only using the 15 rule - take 15g of fast acting carbs and wait for 15 minutes. Then recheck and retreat only if still below 4.0.
Resisting the urge to eat everything in the house can be hard! But you don't want to bounce from hypo way up into the teens from having eaten 50g’s worth of jelly babies!
Then try to work out why the hypos are happening. And remember that “hypos breed hypos” and that after one, you are more likely to have another.
It is very frustrating that insulin can take so long to get going, and can appear to do nothing at all. But remember that food and insulin are only part of the puzzle, and that there are other things that affect your levels like stress, illness, activity, the weather, alcohol and even the efficiency of the physical absorption of the insulin.
Rapid insulins last for 4-6 hours and some courses like DAFNE suggest only correcting at the next meal as it can really reduce confusion.
Rapid doses and corrections one after another where insulin ‘stacks’ on top of each other can give rise to unpredictable results.
Hope you manage to have a few more stable days over the weekend
