THE trust that runs Basingstoke hospital is battling to curb the number of patients catching C Difficile.
Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has a yearly target for 2013 to 2014 of 19 cases. But already this year, six people have suffered from the illness which is ?above the target trajectory.? Five of these were reported in May.
The bacterial infection affects a person?s digestive system with symptoms including diarrhoea, high temperature and abdominal cramps.
