Having been caravanning for 3 months am now back close to home and appts have caught up with me.

I now have 2 weeks of a strict diary of food and readings to do before seeing my diabetes dietician. I know I have been running a but higher than before holidays but 90% under 10. One thing I did find when checking my carbs book was that I had miscounted chips!!! Now you just cannot be around Great Yarmputh and not have cips can you?!! I had been allowing 40g carbs but now realise it was more like 60g.

With just 3 days of "proper" counting I have started getting more 5s and 6s again instead of 8s and 9s. Think I will delay my HbAc test for 6 weeks to try and not give me or my nurse too big a shock as it was 49 in April.

Thank goodness for MDI though as have been holding steady at just on 5 when testing midday as I tend not to eat lunch during the day. It was all your support that really helped me stand up for myself to get off the mix. Have got quite blase about injecting in public - although my hubby hasn't!! I iake the view that it is their problem not mine - and I have enough to contend with.

Sounds like you have really got to grips with things - even when the numbers have been a bit on the high side, you now know why 🙂 Isn't it funny how we always want to please the nurses and docs so that we don't get told off? As long as we know why things haven't been quite so good, that's the main thing, especially if the circumstances were unusual 🙂

diabetes dietician

Hope all goes well with your diabetes dietician 🙂....and sounds like you had a wonderful time!

Hi Pippaandben,

Glad you had a great time!🙂Thats were we went to and I know what you mean about chips - they're everywhere! Why are you worried about your HBA1C? This is your real-life and your allowed to have a more relaxed time of things so dont worry about it.🙂Bev
