I have sinned. I've been away for the forum for a while.
Today I am wearing my Little Miss Angry hat as I have a telephone appointment to discuss my annual review results.
Last year my GP put me on Gliclazide and despite watching what I eat and plenty of walking I have put on 3 stone. Now, I wasn't exactly a sylph to start with and so cue lecture from the practice nurse. (The same nurse who told me last week it didn't matter that I hadn't had my podiatry check-up as she thought they'd probably decided that at 43 years of age I wasn't 'high risk', had to be goaded into checking my pedal pulses and then recalled me back to the surgery because she had 'forgotten' to draw enough blood).
I had an agreement with my GP that he would refer me to a consultant if my HbA1c was no better, but I learned last week he is on long-term sick leave. Since his locum makes the Grim Reaper look like an angel of mercy at the best of times, I am now not hopeful this will happen.
I am sorry to come on here and spout off like this but I am really fed up at the moment.

Hi Nicky, good to hear from you again, but sorry to hear about the circumstances :( Sounds like you need to stand your ground and insist on a referral. If the surgery can't help (and it sounds like they do not have the 'expertise', shall we say? :() then they should have no option but to refer you to someone who can. Is there another doctor you can see at the practice who might be more on the ball?

Welcome back 🙂
