The B.C. government said Sunday it is already addressing some of the concerns raised by the B.C. Coroners Service after an inquest into the death of inmate David Edwin Fast in 2013.

Fast, 55, was found in medical distress in his cell at the North Fraser Pre-Trial Centre and was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital.

His death at RCH on July 27, 2013, was ruled to have been from diabetic ketoacidosis.

The Canadian Diabetes Association warns that ketoacidosis “can be life-threatening and requires emergency treatment.”
