Hi all just joined the forum. I have had diabetes type 1 since 1988. Was a shock really as nobody in my family ever had diabetes at all till now. Anyway six weeks off work (June / July) as my eyes stabilized gave me plenty of time to get my new allotment sorted out. We usually go camping but that year we bought a small caravan for ourselves and two children. We toured all over the south and had a great time. The next year we all went to France for two weeks. One thing you mustnt do is let diabetes get you down you just gotta get on with life. Following year we go to Greek islands and thats where we go now kids all grown up. 2001 I got pneumonia two weeks before we move house from Bournemouth to Lincolnshire but short stay in hospital for ten days and off we go. Changed my job from aircraft engineer to track design engineer for Network Rail and have just retired, hooray!!
