Hi , I’m new to all this , I was diagnosed with high cholesterol and pre diabetes , I’ve just read that taking atrvastatin for cholesterol can raise your blood sugar levels by .6 % , has anyone found this to happen , when I questioned my dr as I wasn’t happy taking statins from what I’ve read he said i need to , I’ve altered my diet so hoping this will help too

I was already .taking a low dose atorvastatin before I was diagnosed and I don't think it made any difference. Many do find reducing carbohydrates actually lowers cholesterol anyway

Perspective:

If you were right on the threshold of diabetes with an HbA1c of 47, a 0.6% increase would take you to 47.28. A miniscule increase & still below the threshold.

Iv been on them for 8 weeks and not noticed any change, I think it's a "just be aware" warning that it might happen.
