Hello everyone, I hope you're all well and all over this low-carb lifestyle xx.

I've joined this forum as I'd like to start The Atkins Diet but I so adore bread, so before I begin I'd love to know how to BAKE this illusive Atkins bread.

I was on Atkins many years ago but my kidneys kind of gave out so I had no option but to abort. Having said that I was amazed at the difference my slightly smaller body looked. Losing weight on the atkins diet gave me a fantastic tighter waist-line, wereas my body has become more straight from below the bust down - I like to call it "athletic" LOL, its always been the same EXCEPT under Atkins (secret LOL and sorry). Because of that I'd like to try Atkins again. I remember doing Atkins bread with Almond flour before and used a microwave. I've forgotten all the other ingredients and I don't have a microwave these days and I can't find almond flour (or a microwave) anywhere on the internet except probably on Amazon but I don't have the bread for that ha ha!

So if anyone knows how to create an Atkins bread or even a really low carb bread I'd be over the moon I tells thee.

I so hope you answer me

Tori xx

Never heard of Atkins Bread.
If doing Atkins Diet badly effected your kidneys why try it again?

Thank You for the reply Grovesy. Their's definitely an Atkins bread. It wasn't great but it made do. I've noticed Almond Flour isn't on people's grocery lists either as they're definitely not in the shops.

I first (and last) tried the Atkins Diet in the early 90's. I'm a different person these days. I'm a 63 year old woman and I've had a Bariatric Op and 30 years later I think I should try Atkins again, simply because I believe it could be good for my health. If my kidneys have a problem with it I'll just stop again.

May someone be kind enough to tell me where to put all the below stuff on my posts to remain there everlastingly please?
I am a Type 2 Diabetic with High Blood Pressure and take Metformin 500mg tabs - 2 daily (are these tabs given out uniformly to all Diabetic 2 patients?) Vitamin B Compound, strong tabs (apparently); Thiamine 50mg x 3 daily, Colecalciferol (Vit D3, 2000iu) x 1 daily; Accrete D3, 400iu x 2 daily; 1 ramipril a day x 10mg; 1 Atorvastatin a day x 40mgs; 1 Amiodipine a day x 5mg and finally 1 Fluoxetine a day x 20mg...and Pregabalin x 84 in total,,,woo hoo!

Can't help with the Atkins bread. My brain tends to turn off when "named" diets are mentioned, I just like to go back to basics and work out the best way forward me without somebody in the middle.

On the other hand I can help with your other question. If you look at the top of page you will find a row of things you can click on. Towards the right you will find your username. Click on that and a window should open. The bottom part of the window has a lot of headings for things you can change. Click on signature. You should then get a box where you can put all that information.

Christy beat me to it!

No such thing as almond flour actually - all it is, is ground almonds!

What you make bakewell tart and marzipan with.

I never did the Atkins Diet when it was all the rage as I didn't need to lose weight. Doubt very much whether many on here are old enough to remember it - it was after all 50 years ago! (early 70s and that was the date, not my age)

Done it Thankyou. Tried to do cChristy's one but it didn't work :(. It just gives my name, age and location, when I joined and when I placed the curser on Managing Account Details instead of showing me a hand it just showed the curser point grr. But guess what...Christy meant the T at the top right of my screen but being abit of a DH I went to the wrong one. Sorry and Thankyou Christy.

Trophywench...Yes I gathered that ground almonds had to do but many online companies still sell almond Flour which is a lot finer, I just can't afford sending off for them seeing I still don't have the recipe for the bread I want. I don't think Atkins wrote a book 50yrs ago....the one I'm thinking of was written 30yrs ago which is still old, I'm 63, any old fogies like myself here, seeing as the young dolls (!) online are a bit too bolshie for me

Well done with your weight loss. It may have been a tad different but you kept the lifestyle change right up and look where you are today, you skinny minnie. We've got to remember its for life, that's a bit hard for me but you've made it, Bravo XX.

Thankyou for your kind reply to my call for the signiture. I'm a Thick-Head and the thick person in me went for the huge T on the left of each post instead of the small one you directed me to.

Thankyou for your kindness

Welcome to the forum!

I expect @Drummer will be along soon, she is a fan of all things Atkins, and may be able to help.
You might find almond flour in some health food shops, but it will be far more expensive than supermarket ground almonds. If the fineness matters, you could try putting ground almonds in a blender and experiment a bit?

I am slightly older than you but I do not class my self as an old fogie.
If you look on the thread What I eat yesterday you may find a couple of posts on what is known as Keto Bread, that point to recipes. Haven't a clue what is in them or what they are like, as I have not tried. They maybe similar to what you are after.

The weight loss is a work in progress ...now at 3 stone 10 but plenty still to go 😳 hey ho..onwards and downwards.
Took me months to work out the signature. Never thought of asking anyone😳good luck with your journey

I got New Diet Revolution before there were many low carb ingredients around - and I was working for Allied Lyons at the time, tasting and checking lots of very high carb products, so I never got into substitutes for such things as bread, even though it was long before I was diagnosed diabetic.
I have been told several times that I do a very 'pure' Atkins, as he really liked the idea of carbs from fresh low carb veges - the Atkins Corporation devised and marketed things which could be packaged, put on shelves and sold weeks or months later.
I keep meaning to do some experimenting with the ingredients I have accumulated from Amazon and Grapetree - but somehow have not got round to it. I used to buy the triangular Lidl rolls still much lamented in certain quarters, but I hope to be able to make something similar once I start work.

Thank You sweetheart re the journey, I may really need it! Keep up your progress. Life is so sweet with no extra weight to carry - keep it up and I will try to do the same.

I gave up being shy to even post (that was my problem initially), at the end of the day its just people talking to people. Now I tend to be a tad confrontational but I just hate snidey people hiding behind a veil thinking they're being clever! Please forgive me for throwing this on your lap, you've been so kind and at the end of the day that's all I want really, to exchange kind words, recipes, good vibes, maybe a problem or two re this new lifestyle etc.

I trust you will keep on doing what you've been doing so I'll hopefully meet you down the road a piece XX

Thankyou silent squirrel for the welcome, I also like what you say very much. You're right about costs buying online but there's a good chance this will work. A coffee mill will do the refining and with trophy wench's found recipe I do believe I'm ready to start. Thankyou my forum buddies, I'm actually excited. Gotta get all ingredients in, in the a.m and then......let the good times roll XX

Drummer please forgive me but I must be a real dolt as I hardly understood your post. I realise some people talk/act/know differently to others, usually very clever people. If Atkins liked low carb fresh veggies why did his corporation create stuff, that I consider plastic, to be placed on shelves and possibly eaten months later? The bread I'm on about is made at home. If I got it right because you were sampling lots of real high carb products at Allied Lyons you preferred not to delve into bread substitutes, I can understand that, if I got that right - you were young, beautiful, dersirable even, why should you have?!

Please do get round to experimenting though crissakes....if you can't do it in Lockdown when can you do it? You may have children and others to care for please excuse me, sometimes I'm too quick to speak. Thing is you're hardly going to have time to experiment when you're working. I remember just coming home from work and immediately falling into a stupour before I retired. Ah the good old days! Thing is I'm hoping you may choose to share your tested experiments with us. Am I selfish? I am, I know I am but my good points outweigh my bad, promise XX

Interesting, will do just that and perhaps try this keto bread although I do have an antiquated recipe I'm excited to try out woo hoo!

What is wrong with being called an old fogie? I'm an old fogie and thank God my hubby is old too though 12 years younger, so what? I've still got it. I'm an old fogie representative of my younger self. I'm an overweight old stunner! Hit me!

There was Dr Atkins who was originally a cardiologist - working to make people as well as possible - and then there was the organisation with the sole aim of bringing in money. Dry goods are all about making something cheap to produce, with little wastage and a good profit when it does eventually sell. The more of the cheaper ingredients you can use, the better - sugar, salt, flour - and then you encourage the purchaser to add in some of their own flour as well just for good measure.
I do work from home - repairing knitting machines, and the lockdown has encouraged quite a few people to get their machines out from under the bed - and then they find that something is seized up or refusing to work - so it arrives here. I can't turn them away - my husband has had no income since closing down his small electronics business some years ago now. My part pension and what we can make from the knitting machines has kept us going - next month, however he will be old enough to qualify for his pension. I am rather relieved we have made it so far.
I have useful things, a Bamix with attachments so I can make flour, there is a box of various nuts, seeds, xanthan gum, wheat gluten, even dried yeast in the fridge - I will make a start soon, I promise.
I just have one more lace carriage to revitalise, and a bit of knitting to do, then it will be all systems go for a seeded bread risen with yeast and - hopefully - just like the best home made ever.....

Golly Gosh Gosh you're SO sweet and kind and your post made me smile. Thank you for the reply x. Those big knitting machines look like beasts at the best of times, ie without the mere thought of repairing them. Actually I think you are pretty lucky having this avenue of income to fall back on.

I know its not ideal and I feel for you having had to live thus far making do with your creativity and part pension. Roll on next month! I say this because my husband and I are in the exact same position...now slightly worse, since this lockdown began, on and off on and off, as he's been unable to work and my pension keeps both of us on the dealio. There will be no work when lockdown ends we've discovered, but that's a different story and something Simon is working on, I don't want to jinx it for him though! You sound like a bit of an engeneer Drummer, so I'll leave you to the machines as you obviously know what they're all about.

I do so dislike corporate companies and am so pleased I'm cutting them out of my life now that I've started my new lifestyle so I get your point entirely.

Your fridge inventory sounds yummity yum. I'm looking forward to your concoctions. OMD do you have olives somewhere in that fridge cos I'm thinking along the lines of a rich olive bread. My mother-in-law Bless and rest her soul made this AWESOME olive bread WITHOUT yeast BUT she did include flour, self-raising - poo! OK I'm back in the diabetes room. Yeast you say. Ground almonds? Oh look I'm getting ahead of myself simply cos you enticed me within with the aroma rich scents of a risen seeded bread. I'll start getting the seeds in today....in anticipation and if you get sidetracked I know I'll find somewhere to put them in. You know I'm sure I'm not allowed various ingredients on induction, must check!

I do so ramble don't I? I know I do. I've always been the same. I'm thinking of starting a blog but vlogs are so much easier for both the vlogger and the vlogees, I just have to work on the equipment I'll need. Remember you saw it here first!

Love
