I have brought a new lancing device - long story for another day! Anyway it is apparently AST compatible. No explanation and when I Goggled most lancing devices offer it but nobody says what it is! When I went through the the abbreviations I could find nothing :remotely relevant. There are numerous American Society of T* and Automatic Signalling Technology but they are irrelevant. So what is AST?

I believe you can use the fleshy part at the bottom of your thumb or the side of the palm below the little finger or your arm. I think anywhere where you can pinch flesh a bit to get a drop of blood.
