BRITAIN’S arthritis crisis is leaving millions of patients with a “ tsunami” of pain, a shocking report claims.
Experts say the terrible toll of the crippling condition on patients, their friends, families and the NHS is becoming unsustainable.
Only a third of patients are offered help with self management of the condition, which Arthritis Care says is the only way “to assuage the onslaught of ongoing, persistent pain”.
Judi Rhys, chief executive of the charity, said: “Millions are in constant agony because there are no effective treatments.
“Self-management leads the way in delivering the only effective means of managing the pain of arthritis – it’s a scandal only a third of patients are being offered that help.”
