The lad is not big on hot drinks, but occasionally likes a strong black coffee. His favourite adulteration to date is Muscovado sugar! 🙄

Is there a good artificial sweetner out there? I hate almost all of them, especially aspartame, but he probably needs something he can carry easily. Splenda seems to be the best of the granular sugar replacements, but I have no idea what any of them do to BG levels... I use some artificially sweetened things like squash as part of my Weight Watchers regime, so we always have things like that in the house.

Hi kate,
Splenda is fine to use. You can also buy it in tablet form 🙂

Ta! We'll look out for both forms. I'm told it's the one that tastes most like sugar.

I though Splenda was still not that brilliant because it is still almost all carbohydrate?

Hi Mark, it is a very light substance so something like 0.5 carbs per teaspoon. Where as sugar is about 5 carbs.
Hope that clears things up for you. 🙂
