hi everyone!
have just done a reading before bed, my meter just read 'high' !!! what do i do? do i go straight to the hospital or do i just take an extra dose and keep an eye on my levels??? please help!!!
thanks xx:confused:

Firstly, if you are worried then do call NHS Direct for proper medical advice.
Wash your hands and re test to check it's an accurate reading. If you have some test solution may be worth checking your meter to check it's ok.
Have you been instructed how to do corrections to bring your levels down? If so then follow those rules. Most meters only read hi when they're in the 30s, but might be worth checking your manual to see what yours goes up to.
It's worth checking for ketones too if you can.
How long is it since you last ate/injected? What was your last reading before this one?

i havent had anything to eat since dinner time (6.30pm) and i did my injection then. my last test was 9.3 which is good for me. i have tested again and im still getting the same reading! my tester is fine as i just tested it with solution. im under the diabetes specialist at the hospital at the moment as im having problems with my levels but i have never been this high! i have just spoken to the oncall doc and have been advised to take 8 units and moniter for the next hour if my levels havent improved then to call them back. im really worried though! i feel horrible! my heart is racing, and im aching all over! could this be ketoacidosis?? its really worrying! :(

Sorry, I lost my internet connection last night. How did things go? How are you now?
