I checked my BGs before lunch and they were 5.0. Two hours after lunch they were at 6.0. I had previously been for a walk but not that far. I had chicken, veg and borlotti beans for lunch.
I had plain yoghurt with nuts and seeds after but that does not usually affect me.

I read somewhere that after two hours the reading should be back to what it was before the meal so wondered if I should perhaps adjust that lunch in future.

Diagnosed pre-diabetic last year. Had three normal hba1cs since but creeping up a bit each time so trying to test foods to see what I should and should not eat.

Thanks.

Sorry I don't know about pre diabetes, but as diabetic I would be ecstatic with those numbers.

These readings are fine, if a meal spikes you more than 2-3mmol after 2 hours then that's not so good but a move of 1mmol is nothing and of course there are inaccuracies with meters too x

I never expect the levels to be back to what they were 2 hrs after eating. If it's less than a 2.5 rise, it's a good result for me. Those are excellent numbers! 🙂

Anyone with a diagnosis of any type of diabetes would be very happy with those readings, @Maz2, so you're doing theright things.

If meters are accurate to within 10%, then the 5 might have actually been 5.5 and the 6 might have been 5.4 so basically your levels were quite possibly constant! Perfectomundo.

Thank you all for your help Do not know what I would do without this Forum. Was reading through David Cavan's book again and saw about the 2 to 3 mmol. Worst spike I have had a couple of weeks ago was 5.9 before lunch to 12.4 two hours later. Tried all the foods I had for lunch thst day again apart from sausage so put it down to that. Strange as a lot of people here seem to tolerate them. Were highly processed though. Trying to stick to food I know I can get away with and test after new foods, at least until I can get an SD Codefree. Strips for Accu Check so expensive.
