Hello all
Just getting something off my chest 😛
Our hospital appointments system is quite old fashioned - basically, you get what you're given and then contact them if you can't make it. So when I handed in my re-booking form for my son's D clinic (back in May), I made sure to point out that he is going away to school in September, so could it please be before that. Along comes the appointment letter - 14th September ** sigh **. Turns out that the consultant is away for most of August, which of course he's entitled to be, especially as some of that is paternity leave 🙂 But no-one is is being drafted in to help. I have also asked my son's retinopathy check to be during his half term, but haven't heard yet ... I might open a book on the chances that the appointment will be just when we can't make it ... any punters?
Luckily my son is doing OK right now, so I'm going to ask whether he might just have the A1C done by a nurse and talk to his DSN about any issues.
Whole thing could do with being more patient centred, but I feel for the staff as they're always trying to make things work with minimum resources.
Well, rant over ... that feels a bit better 🙂 Catherine
