Has anyone tried both of these insulins?
I have been told that Apidra is a bit faster acting than Novorapid.
Is it a noticeable difference?

Giving this a <bump>

Have only ever used novorapid, but have certainly heard that Apidra is faster and shorter duration. I'm sure we have a couple of members on pumps who use it, but can't recall who at the moment! 🙄

Hmmmm, I'm am on novorapid but should shortly move to degladec (not sure of the spelling:D) this should be even quicker, but hope to have a pump in the not too distant future....

Oh I may have understood the query wrong o_O I thought you were swapping your novorapid? X

This isn't my thread but you've said you are on Novorapid but should be moving to degludec, they are for different needs so I don't understand what you are saying x

Hmmmm, maybe I've remembered the name wrong, but I think the last convo with the nurse was to swap the novorapid for a even quicker insulin....... I'm sure all will become after the appointment on 13th :D

What insulin are you currently on besides novorapid, Becca? 🙂

Yes. I was on Humalog for years with a pen, then switched to Novorapid which seemed just the same. I used to get massive unpredictable hypos up to 6 hours after injecting and huge spikes after eating with both. Apidra lasts 4 hours with most of its action over by two and a half for me. I still have to pre-inject for most foods and I don’t eat masses of carbs, and I have a pump, but I have managed to keep my HbA1c below 6.5 without any serious hypos since swapping (and getting the pump) which I could never achieve before.

Hi Becca
As I have a pump I only use quick acting insulin, and my background insulin comes from a constant feed of Novorapid from the pump at a rate adjusted to match my needs. For the quick acting I have recently tried FIASP which is Novorapid with some other stuff added to make it act faster. That. It worked for me but I found it stung and my cannulas sites were very painful. If I were injecting it might not be as bad as you could use a lot more different sites, such as legs.
