I thought I’d read the same but both the DN and the eye screening service said that’s not the case and that screening shouldn’t have been delayed by COVID.I read some information that said due to Covid diabetes retinal eye screening is having a 2 year gap unless you’re high risk (previous eye problems, missed the pre covid screening etc) as they are focusing on catching these up first.
Things were definitely different due to Covid here when I went for my screening a couple of months ago. Normally they have at least 2 people in the waiting room at once and they alternate you in the screening room so one is getting their eye test and drops put in whilst the other is waiting outside for their drops to work. This time only one patient in the dept. at any one time and the screening room was empty whilst the drops worked so I would estimate they are only doing half as many patients at the moment but i believe the screening was suspended altogether here in the early days of the first lockdown as the clinician said they had been deployed elsewhere.I thought I’d read the same but both the DN and the eye screening service said that’s not the case and that screening shouldn’t have been delayed by COVID.
Last time I didn’t need drops. I’m hoping that’s the same this time too.Things were definitely different due to Covid here when I went for my screening a couple of months ago. Hi...new to the forum .
Can i just ask sorry ....do you get your eye test results there and then as they are doing the screening ? If not how do you get them ? He’s had diabetic eye screening tests before , but cant remember how he got his results last time ? Thank you . Just asking for someone else . ( long term type 2 diabetic)
Brilliant ....thanks for your helpThey send you a letter to you and GP.
Annually would probably be normal if everything is ticking along OK. ie nothing too untoward in the previous blood test.Mine is late and unarranged. Also noticed GP has not done a blood test in 8 months, whats the recommended frequency for kidney checks and HB1AC?
According to the NICE guidelines for Type 2 (https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng28/chapter/Recommendations) blood tests should be done every 6 months.Mine is late and unarranged. Also noticed GP has not done a blood test in 8 months, whats the recommended frequency for kidney checks and HB1AC?
My last one last month, I had my screening on Monday and result in the post by the weekend. This was very quick as few years ago it could take 3 weeks.Hi...new to the forum .
