Can barely keep up eating enough after 2nd Covid vac, was same with first. Unfortunately don't like food at the best of times.. prefer coffee and cigarettes ))

Yes,I had lower sugars for weeks after my vaccination (only had one so far). I reduced my boluses and that helped. I also ate more cake/flapjack type things as they seemed to work better when I needed a boost whereas normally I’d go for something lower GI.

Me too. I had to reduce my basal by about 40% to stop hypoing for 2 days after my jab.

Just to show it can go either way, my basal needs increased from 16 units a day up to 24 at one stage. I had the first vaccine 11the Feb and still needing 22units despite increased exercise. It is normal for my basal needs to reduce with the longer days and warmer weather so to need so much more is very odd and makes me wonder if the vaccine triggered my immune system to target a few of my remaining beta cells.
Had my second jab (Oxford AZ) today so expecting some BG upheaval in the next few days again but hoping it won't be a prolonged increase like the last one.

Hope your levels settle down soon.

Mine also lowered for both doses. Not by all that much, though. (10-20% or so judging by night time basal.)

In the thread a month or two ago some other people reported the same, while others said their BG had risen. (I don't think it was obviously dependent on which flavour vaccine had been received so presumably it's just an individual variation.)

Thanks to both Rebrascora and Bruce Stephens too )) What a wonderful site this is. Keep safe all Xxx

Well my BG has shot up to 19 tonight after my second jab yesterday!! Felt a bit rough this evening so went to bed with some paracetamol for a nap after a low carb early evening meal. I was in the 7s all afternoon and had 3 units of bolus with my dinner which was pretty generous I thought, so that was a bit of a shocker to wake up to! Double checked just to make sure and it is right. 4.5 correction units which is probably no where near enough but a bit wary of using more at this time of night. Will be having an increase in Levemir tonight!

My BG rose substantially after the first jab for approx 7 - 10 Days. Immediately after the 2nd my BGs dropped and have been using a temp basal overnight since. Have just given in and dropped basal by 20% from 11pm to 10am. A huge drop (ha ha) from 12.86 to 12.19u in 24 hours, but that’s pumping.

Mine dropped after my first vaccine I was expecting it to go up . Ah well that’s diabetes for you

Ooh, thanks for the warning! My levels rose after the first jab, I had to increase basal by 25% for at least a week. I’ve got my second jab early next week, and was assuming it would do the same, if anything, but maybe not!

Perhaps it depends on the vaccine you have? I had Pfizer and I went low for quite a while after.

I had the AZ one did you?

Doh! I was getting excited about my theory :D There might still be an increased possibility though.
I was expecting mine to rise . I really wasn’t very well after my first vaccine was in bed for 3 days . Just hoping second vaccine does not affect me as badly
