I was advised if you are going to fry anything, the best oil is Rapeseed oil, I fry my chips in Rapeseed oil;. As I am type 2 with insulin, I am vegetarian, in concern with Kayzl, about his black pudding, as you probably see that I don't eat that. Crispy Oil with Rapeseed is best I can recommend. If you want to keep your Blood sugars down in the morning, go to an African or a West Indian shop and buy BITTER LEAF and boil it and drink it bitter and go to bed. It may make go to go to the toilet. There are plenty of remedies.
I thought rapeseed oil was one of the worst oils you could use. I will stick with butter, lard or extra virgin olive oil depending on what I am cooking.

Not sure where you heard that Jean;

What are the health benefits of Rapeseed Oil?
  • Contains the lowest saturated fat content of any oil – less than half that of Olive Oil.
  • Has 10 times more Omega 3 than Olive Oil.
  • It is a good source of Vitamin E.
  • High in monounsaturated fats.
  • Contains no artificial preservatives and is trans-fat and GM free.

I rarely fry with olive oil of any kind because it has a low smoke point and high heat releases toxins;

‘Extra virgin olive oil has a lower smoke point than regular olive oil -- but that doesn't mean you shouldn't cook with it either. Just keep your burner down if you don't want your olive oil or extra virgin olive oil to reach its smoke point: The average stovetop is 250 to 350°F on medium/low heat, so try to aim for the lower end of that range, especially if you're cooking with extra virgin.’

I use rape seed oil for frying my eggs, I use olive oil for Mediterranean roasted veg, when I scramble eggs I cook in butter.

@Kaylz have you tried Herta Frankfurter's? Only 0.7g each, I just had them for my tea :D quick and easy to cook, 4 mins on the hob or 1 min in microwave, also good in a sandwich, if you cool them first so the bread doesn't go soggy 😱

I've been looking for them but haven't found them yet :( lol, I don't mind a soggy sandwich to be fair, tomorrows sandwich is a fresh cooked fish fillet so soggy it will be! :D xx

The Tesco we use doesn't have them :( x

They have them in the Asda too, also Sainsbury’s and Aldi and Lidl do their own versions.
I’m sure you’ll find them in one of those stores Kaylz 🙂

Don't have Asda or Sainsburys either haha, only a Co Op and Lidl and I'm never up that way lol x

I can.t see the problem with the numbers.
The percentage is for 100 units.
The carb content of two sausages is different because two sausages do not weigh 100gm.

But using the carbs per 100g (0.6g) if 2 sausages were to weigh 116g raw that would make the carbs 0.696g but it states 2 grilled sausages weighing 116g is 1.6g

Blimey, I'm confused lol!! Have you worked it out yet?
On another note, Tesco do frozen vegetarian hotdogs at 1.0g for 2 and they taste OK as a substitute to the Herta ones 🙂
