Hi everyone 🙂

Thank you for taking time to read my post,

Just wondering if anyone suffering from type1 stays around the Reading, Berkshire area? It can feel lonely at times and knowing people around you who suffer similar condition will understand the struggle of the day to day process. (Apart from the doctors and nurses)
🙂
I've developed type1 when I was 3! yes very very very hard for parents to cope with, 35 years later im as strong as a brick but emotionally drained and have my days I cant stop crying.
Keep going people, you are all doing a wonderful job coping.

I'm not sure about others living with type 1 in the Reading, Berkshire area but I'm sure someone will hop in. We're a lovely bunch, so definitely ask away! Have you ever attended a support group in your area?

Welcome to the forum @Jackie Reading UK

I am pleased that you have found the forum. We don’t have any local support group which includes people with T1, so it can be a very isolating thing. I have found this forum so helpful and supportive so stick with us.

I would be surprised if there are many with T1 on here who haven’t felt like sitting down and having a good cry. It is relentless but with the modern resources that we have available things are getting easier. There is also a wealth of experience to tap into on here, from people who ‘get it’, in a way that our specialist teams don’t.

If you are happy to do so can you tell us a bit about how you manage your diabetes
Pens or pump?
What insulin(s) are you using?
Do you use a sensor of any sort?

Welcome to the forum

We’ve a few members who have mentioned they are in or aroind Berkshire in the past @adrian1der and @Martin.A

For T1s, I can only think of @counsellorneil - but there may be many more.

We also have a number of people who were diagnosed as babes, and who have been juggling their BG levels for many years including @Pumper_Sue and @AJLang

Hi @Jackie Reading UK, as mentioned I'm also a type diabetic 1 and live in Bracknell, so not too far from Reading. diagnosed Christmas 1980. Now 65. If you'd like to have a chat feel free to message/contact me and can share phone numbers. Or even meet up.
