Pretty sure I’ve got me a dose of laryngitis. Had it once before donkeys years ago. Feel ok other than catarrh around my throat and loss of voice. Hubby and kids loving it!

Anyone got any tips to help sooth that doesn’t involve anything sugary and syrupy?

Thanks

Single Malt Whisky for me (zero carbs too) - get better soon :care:

I used to suffer laryngitis regularly when singing in smoky pubs.
Gargling with warm salt water, keeping the humidity fairly high, and not trying to talk at all helped.
I used to put Vick vapour variant into hot water over a tea light, or eucalyptus oil when I could find it as that seemed to help a bit.

Eating wise....sugar free jelly, I like mine with a few cherries in...they are natural inflammatories.
Gargle wise... salt water or my preference brandy with ginger ale ..at least you can swallow that.
Get better soon

Cups of tea and whisky help me @gillrogers Not together, of course! I also suck sweets and indulge in those little mini lollies.
Oh darn! I don’t drink except herbal teas lol

Thanks Drummer, got a big pot of Vicks, been steam bathing but not really helped. So rubbed some Vicks on my throat. Think that’s helping more.

Had no idea about that with cherries

Love the small of whiskey but I don’t drink. Perhaps I could gargle it
These days I just smell it - I got drunk on whisky once and have not been able to drink it since.
There is a whisky collector comes to the folk club and last week he brought two flavours of Dura and an unusual one with a long name which I can't recall now.

Likewise, I used to like whiskey but I was with some people at a conference in Edinburgh and got dragged into a 'how many different whiskeys can you drink' OMG was I ill. Never could touch it since.

If your throat is not sore and just "catarrh around" it, I would not bother with anything to sooth it.
The advice I was given when I had laryngitis is to rest and save my voice.

Frozen yoghurt, drink constantly, warm and cold drinks, regular pain killers. I had it at the start of this year, was able to talk after a week, throat pain took two weeks, good luck shaking it!
