IS any one on the omnipod system in Leicester. My son has miscalculated and thought he had a box of Omnipods left and has now found himself in Leicester infirmary trying to get one. HE has been there for six hours and no one can help. It is now nearly midnight and they are suggesting he injects, which he hasn't done for two years plus he need slow acting as well as rapid. This is my last hope. Can anyone help?

I’m not surprised that you can’t get hold of Omnipods in Leicester on a Sunday night, particularly at a hospital. Your best plan is to closely monitor his BG, don’t bother with long acting overnight, because of the timing. Just control with rapid till tomorrow morning, then resume normal service in the morning. If he gets them on prescription, the usual pharmacy should hold a supply. If you haven’t got syringes or fine gauge needles, the hospital should have. You don’t need me to tell you that it’s always a good idea to have primitive technology to hand if the fancy new stuff goes AWOL, as it always seems to do at weekends.

Thanks Mike. That's what he's done. He also said he's going to give his name to the hospital, so. if anyone finds themselves in his predicament he can lend them a pod. Thanks for you reply though.

Yes, it’s in situations like that when you discover that T1 technology we we get used to (in my case the Libre) are almost unknown in some hospitals because we are seriously uncommon. Omnipod users are pretty uncommon on the forum, actually, but it’s a great way of avoiding injection clutter.

@DByrne I have sent you a message 🙂
