I can’t glean from this whether whatever took you into the hospital (such as infection etc.) actually caused your blood glucose to shoot up to 18 or whether you went in for the high bg? Many of us have temporarily elevated blood glucose levels when we are ill. I’ve never had a bg reach 18.

It seems curious however that in less than a year, your GP has declared you cured because there’s hardly been enough time elapsed for many Hba1c tests.

I agree we need to watch our diets nuff but it’s not always the whole story for those with more severe insulin resistance/damaged pancreatic function.

Good luck going forward but your story is quite unusual.

I went to hospital as i was on holiday I had all the classic signs thirst urination weight loss I have a family history of diabetes father and grandmother so knew the signs

It’s good to hear you’ve now got your levels back in line nuff but presumably you are still being medically monitored for your diabetes?

HbA1C 58 in September, 51 in December.
G.P has said if I can get down below 48 when I have my next test at the end of March she will take me off the diabetes register and I will only need the normal yearly over 60s blood test next due in September after that.
Wish me luck ( current average reading 7.2 on the codefree) so I hope I'm there.
