I find in the hot weather I go hypo at lunchtime more quickly than usual although that is my time for hypos if at all during the day.

Today I woke to 7.2, injected only 6 units of Humalog Mix 25, had a bowl of Cheerios and a slice of wholemeal toast with a spoonful of honey. Three and a half hours later I felt odd, and tested - 2.8 😱

I just don't understand it. I'm injecting less in the morning and, if I don't have a biscuit, scone or something at about 11 a.m. am going low but I don't feel it's right to have a carby treat just to stop hypo at noon.

Does this make sense ? Should I just go on treating myself or seek DSN advice (new one at the surgery and I don't like her !).

Sorry to hear this Faith - it sounds like although you are making adjustments you're not going quite far enough. I think this is quite common, I know when something significant changes for me and I try to readjust my estimates I'm usually fat too cautious. I would definitely seek advice from your DSN 🙂

Heat increases the absorption of insulin and so means it starts acting more quickly - it might be that your digestion isn't able to keep up. Anecdotally as well, I think many people find their insulin requirements simply change according to the weather.

It might not 'feel right' having to eat something carby to stop going hypo before lunch but unfortunately you're on a mix insulin. Therefore, when and what you eat will have to be determined by your blood sugar.
